JOHN L. CAREY SCHOLARSHIPS IN ACCOUNTING

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants makes available each year seven John L. Carey Scholarships. Scholarships are offered to liberal arts degree holders who wish to pursue a graduate degree in accounting leading to a CPA certificate. The scholarship recipients are then eligible for renewal for one more year if satisfactory scholastic progress is maintained.

Scholarships are given based on academic achievement, leadership. and future career interests, and are contingent upon acceptance in a graduate accounting program. THE BENJAMIN A. GILMAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

Sponsored by the US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education, this program enables students who have limited financial means to participate in study abroad opportunities worldwide. The program provides awards of up to $5,000 for US citizen undergraduate students at two-and four-year institutions to pursue semester or academic-year long study abroad opportunities in other countries. To be eligible students much be receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application and cannot be studying abroad in a country currently under a US Department of State Travel warning or in Cuba.

JAMES MADISON FELLOWSHIPS

Provides support for two years of graduate study that lead to a Master's degree in history, political science or related social studies. The applicants must agree to teach secondary school for at least one year for each year of financial assistance.

MULTICULTURAL ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM
Application and Nomination for Undergraduate, 4-H, USDA Scholarship

The Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program (MAOP) is an academic success community founded upon the principles of self-help, mentoring, and peer support. Central to the goal of MAOP is the promotion of diversification in the student body at Virginia Tech and on the post graduate level - particularly in the science, math, and technology areas. Through a partnership with various departments at Virginia Tech, other college and university peers, governmental, private, and non-profit institutions MAOP participants are supported with academic guidance and financial support.

MAOP is open to all students who demonstrate a clear commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence and are interested in the promotion of diversity in an ever closer global community.
